The Honey Badger lights are powerful and versatile and the Badger unleashed boasts a battery-powered, 250Ws strobe and HSS/TTL capabilities to become the flash head you’ll always want on your side. It also includes a 2900mAh battery, so that you can be completely untethered during your next photo session.
The Badger Unleashed is a fearless shooting companion like its predecessor, but this time with a battery-powered 250Ws strobe and HSS/TTL capabilities for the ultimate on-the-go flash head!
Please note: TTL & HSS will only work with a dedicated remote, The Interfit Manual remote will not have TTL and HSS capabilities. If you want to use your manual remote with the HBU250 & another Interfit head like the Honey Badger 320 photo light at the same time you must backdate the firmware from 04 to 03. You can download this in the downloads section tab on this listing.
Building off the success of the Honey Badger, the Badger Unleashed photography light shredded the restraints of an AC power cable and now roams free thanks to a drop-in Lithium-Ion battery. Add in High-Speed Sync and TTL capabilities, and the Badger Unleashed becomes a fearless shooting companion and the ultimate on-the-go flash head!
The Badger Unleashed photo light is a direct response to customer requests for a light with the compact form factor of the Honey Badger and the mobility and high-tech functionality of the S1. We packed 250Ws of power, a 15W LED modelling lamp, and an in-line battery into a small body. Included HSS and TTL for the most versatile Badger yet! This all comes in the bold yellow colour you know, but with new design changes for an unmistakably Interfit experience.
Built-In Battery Power:
The namesake feature of the Badger Unleashed photography lighting head is an entirely DC powered system, offering full portability in a compact body with 250Ws of light in up to 430 full-power flashes. Out of juice? The Badger Unleashed photo light can recharge its battery to full in just 90 minutes, and extra battery packs can be swapped mid-shoot, so you’ll never miss that golden hour at the end of your shoot again!
Compact Form Factor:
The ability to travel with lighting equipment is crucial for a mobile photographer, and size and weight matter. The Badger Unleashed photo light weighs less than 1.8kg, measures 12.7cm wide (15cm including the outer ring), and 17.8cm deep from the back panel to the edge of the protective cap, making it one of the most compact self-contained studio flash heads on the market. The robust and compact housing paired with its on-board battery power makes the Badger Unleashed the ideal solution for photographers on the move.
Extended Power Range:
The Badger Unleashed has an incredible 9-stop power range, two more stops than our Honey Badger sister strobe, and four more than traditional studio flash heads. Power can be adjusted from 250Ws down to 1Ws in 1/10th of a stop increments for precise exposure.
Best-In-Class Recycle Time:
At full power, the Badger Unleashed recycles in an impressive 1.5 seconds at full power. Plus, recycle times only get shorter and shorter as you decrease the flash power!
High Speed Sync & Through-The-Lens Metering Modes:
Short flash duration’s give us the ability to freeze motion beyond the capabilities of our shutter sync speed. In HSS mode, the Badger Unleashed studio lighting head has a t.1 flash duration of 1/8000th of a second. With TTL metering, the new Badger is even capable of automatically adjusting flash power for you with +/- 3 stops of exposure compensation as the lighting around your subject changes from shot to shot – simply keep shooting with your viewfinder and the Badger Unleashed takes care of the rest!
15W LED Modelling Lamp:
The Badger Unleashed is equipped with a 15W LED modelling lamp that produces 1250 Lumens. This flicker-free LED can be used as a continuous light source for both photo and video purposes. The modelling lamp can be set to adjust proportionately to the flash power, or to full power. For the most accurate light tone portrayal, we balanced the colour temperature to 5500K – giving you nice daylight-balanced natural lighting colour tones in every scene.
Built-in Radio Receiver:
The Badger Unleashed features a built-in radio receiver that is compatible with all Interfit TTL * HSS Remotes and manual remotes. This allows full control over the light’s power range, flash mode, modelling lamp, and beep function. When using the Interfit manual remote, the Badger Unleashed studio flash head can be adjusted individually via 3 different control groups (A-C), across 15 different channels (1-15). With the Interfit TTL remotes you can use it across 8 channels. This allows for intricate multi-light setups and negates interference from neighbouring photographers.
Versatile Modifier Mount:
The most unique feature of the Badger Unleashed is the versatile modifier mount. The Badger Unleashed utilizes the popular Bowens® S-Type modifier mount, making it compatible with all of the same modifiers as the S1, Honey Badger, and any other Interfit or S-Type mount light system. In addition, the Badger Unleashed features the built-in pop-up softbox ring made popular by the original Honey Badger for use with pop-up style softboxes that are popular with Speedlight shooters. The idea behind this feature is to allow photographers to grow into their studio lights by allowing them to use some of the existing modifiers they may already have purchased for on camera speedlights.
Glass Dome Diffuser:
The Badger Unleashed includes a frosted glass dome diffuser. This protects the flash tube and helps to spread light evenly throughout the modifier.

Please ensure that you are on the same channel (this will be the number eg. 1a) on both the light and the trigger, as well as ensuring both the light and the trigger are up to date with your camera model. You can find firmware here.
Please ensure your camera hot shoe settings are correct, please refer to your camera user manual.
If you think you have updated your firmware and it doesn’t suit your older camera type, please contact us for backdated firmware files – you must have a Dropbox/Google drive account to enable us to send them.
Simply set up the lights on the same channel, then set the group to a different setting, from here you can control individual lights. For example, one [light] can be on 1A at 4.5 and another [light] can be on 1B at 5.0 – as long as they are on the same channel they will fire at the same time with different settings.
Please see this video on how to change the flash tube.
Yes! All our Interfit flash range will have optical sync which will enable your flash to be triggered by another light source, simply set the mode to CELL and your [HB320/HBU250/INTS1/INTS1A] will be fired by another light. Cell mode works on the speed of light, for best results use a direct line. Please note, on this mode you cannot control HSS or TTL.
With the sync cable that comes with the [HB320/HBU250/INTS1/INTS1A] plug it directly into the PC Sync Socket on your camera. Entry-level cameras do not have these, but you can buy an adapter. Like cell mode, you will not be able to control HSS or TTL using this method to fire the lights.
Check that the hotshoe settings on your camera are set up correctly, refer to your camera’s user manual.
Please also make sure all contact points on both the camera and trigger are clean and are not damaged.
We cannot guarantee any third-party equipment will work with our Interfit lights as they would not have been tested. If they do work, it is not guaranteed that you will be able to control HSS and TTL functions with them.
Yes, but like with any socket do not overload the extension lead and make sure it is a properly rated, surge protected extension lead.
Yes you can use your [HB320/HBU250/INTS1/INTS1A/Monolight/F121] in Europe.
Please ensure that both the light and the trigger are up to date with your camera model. You can find firmware here. You could be over firing the flash, the higher the setting of the light intensity, the longer the flash tube will take to recharge.
The newest update for the Badger Unleashed is for users who are using mirrorless cameras only with Sony / Nikon / Canon. If this is not you, you should backdate your Badger to B03. Please contact us for this firmware and ensure that you have a Dropbox/Google Drive account for us to send them to you.
Please ensure that both the light and the trigger are up to date with your camera model. You can find firmware here. Your flash tube may have reached the end of its lifespan, you may need to purchase a replacement. Please also ensure that the flash tube is installed correctly - see this video on how to change the flash tube.
When charging the battery for the HBU250 please make sure the charging cable is inserted and light on the transformer has turned RED.
